Men’s Sheds for Wales

The ACTION project at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David invites all interested parties to a workshop highlighting the opportunities offered by the ‘Men’s Sheds’ movement.

So what is a ‘Men’s Shed’?

A Men’s Shed is any community-based organisation which is open to all men where the primary activity is the provision of a safe, friendly and inclusive environment where the men are able to gather and/or work on meaningful projects at their own pace, in their own time and in the company of other men and where the primary objective is to advance the health and well- being of the participating men. Men’s sheds may look like a shed in your back yard yet they innovatively share some characteristics of both community education and health promotion projects.

Small Indigenous Suppliers Social Enterprise ‘Winning Tenders in Action’ Meet the Buyers Event and Procurement Seminar Kilkenny Ormond Hotel Friday 17th February 2011 A meet the buyer event for small indigenous suppliers (SIS) and social enterprises (SE) with an interest in engaging in tendering for public sector contracts at local, national or EU level is scheduled in Kilkenny for Friday the 17th of February 2011. The objective of this event is create a space for engagement between local suppliers and public procurement agencies. It will offer enterprises the opportunity to meet a range of buyers and to discover more about doing business with the public sector. Participants are advised to bring the following documents in relation to a previous public sector contract they tendered for, if at all possible: (i) official tender request; (ii) bid document; (iii) feedback (verbal or written). The focus will be on the shared experience of social enterprise in public sector procurement with tailored technical support and advice and that will improve performance in procurement

The event is open to social enterprises who have been involved in public sector procurement at any level over the past 2 years

A one-off tender review service will be offered on an individual basis to enterprises involved in the event

Social Enterprise Networking Event – 24th May 2011

The ACTION Interreg project based at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David is organising a unique event with the aim of providing social enterprises and third sector groups within Carmarthenshire with an informal networking opportunity. A buffet lunch will be provided and there is no charge for attending the event.

There will also be two workshops running following the lunch which will hopefully be of interest to all those involved in social enterprise within Carmarthenshire and those who are looking to generate revenue for their not-for-profit organisation.
